Snapshot of my show in the then relaunched Girls FM in 1996. I had the last slot on Tuesdays, after Princess Julia. Hidden away in a business centre in Camberwell I had to lock it up under strict instruction – this was still an outlaw activity with draconian punishments if caught. Hilarious really as it often felt as though Iwas broadcasting to nobody at all. The phone wasnt ringing constantly at midnight on a November Tuesday!.
But the chance to play through new music on a weekly basis, on good equipment was enough in itself. I was a resident at MOS but also often away at weekends – Glasgow, Zurich, Thessaloniki, a regular slot in Aachen etc and the radio show was a good way of pushing forward, not just playing the same set for weeks.
And i liked to vary my moods, rhythms, emotions so mixing without trying to hold a crowd allowed more experimentation.
I really like this mix. It’s a perfect example of the spectrum of house that i played .
