Think of 60’s garage bands; how many can you name?
Unless you’re a fan the chances are the answer would be ‘not many’ or ‘none’. Names get even harder to conjour when it comes to girl groups. But they were there too, buying guitars, packing gear into clapped-out tour vans and (usually) not doing well commercially.
Women singers and musicicians there were also that never gained the status of Janice Joplin or the Shangri-Las and didn’t roll-off the conveyor-belt of 60’s pop and beat girls even though they were sometimes groovier, rockier or just more fun.
On this weeks show Nony Zero takes a look at some of the music that many people didn’t even know you could look for. ‘Are you ready, boots…..?’
