At the time Whiz Kid was known as one of the best DJs in the world. This is recorded straight off somebody’s boom box or tape player, you can hear conversations in the background but more importantly you can hear Whiz Kid getting busy.Theres not many recordings of early UK sessions like this so its interesting to hear. I have questions. Who is the UK Mc on the mic? And who is the host at the end lol?
Whiz Kid is so tight and fast, cutting up doubles of Herbie Hancock’s Rockit, Pleasure Boys, Dance To The drummers Beat, Dance To The Drummers Beat, Planet Rock, Funkbox, Apache, and much more. Big up DJ Pogo who gave me this tape 22 years ago and is probably the guy who recorded this. BTW the original Kiss Fm was set up to promote Gordan Macs club night at Kisses hence the name, then they jacked the logo from Kiss FM NYC. Im pretty sure Wiz Kid also played at The Albany in Deptford and even Acklam Hall (Subterania) I’ll try and dig them up. Enjoy, share and leave a comment.
