Deconstructed was launched by music & film critic Kingsley Marshall (@kingsleydc) at the turn of the millennium as a showcase for contemporary music. Writing & interviewing for magazines in the UK & US provided access to some of the most interesting producers & musicians operating at the time. The 100+ gigs – in boutique venues across the UK – weren't just about soul, funk, house, techno, electronica, hip hop – rather the opportunity for some fabulous DJs, musicians, label managers & the occasional music hack to play their favourite records to a receptive crowd. The night was heralded as one of the best in the country by the NME, Mixmag, The Guardian and iD. The majority of these sets were recorded in 2001-2002.
