Urban Torque®

Urban Torque® was originally a club night at Heaven in London between 1999 and 2002. The resident DJs were Juan Atkins, Justin Robertson, Craig Richards, Adam Freeland, Dave Angel, Terry Francis, Phil Perry, Dave Clarke and The Propellerheads. We staged the very first Defected Records party, had guest DJs like Danny Howells, Carl Cox, Danny Rampling, The Murk Boys and loads of live performances including an unbelievable show by Shades Of Rhythm. We were inspired by the diversity of the electronic music assembled under one roof and wanted to recreate this in a record label.
